| Bio: |  Name: Her first name, the one she was born with, was Zheng Shen-Xue, her current and public name now is Sesshu Hatsuyuki. Or, americanized; Hatsuyuki Sesshu. Height: 5'0 Weight: 120 Hair: Black Eyes: Black Powers: Sonic Scream and Mental Manipulation Description: Hatsuyuki was of average height for her time, though the growing average has left her doll-like and diminuative in comparison with modern women. This does not trouble her, as petiteness was prized in women when she was human, and for most of her vampire life and she wagers it will eventually come back into fashion as all things do. She has very pale skin, fine like old ivory. It is a feature she has always taken great care of, along with her hair, which reaches to her feet when it is unbound. Hatsuyuki has black eyes, fathomless and dark. A poet in the Jin Dynasty once described them as ink dripped onto purest snow. Fanciful maybe, but it stroked her vanity and was a fairly accurate description of their darkness. She has a very beautiful face, even without cosmetics, though she wears full traditional makeup on a regular basis to serve as a type of barrier, between her public and private selves. Personality: Hatsuyuki is by nature reserved, dignified and extremely concerned with propriety and honor. This comes partly from her age and the time in which she was born and raised as well as her own innate nature. The qualities encouraged in women then were gentleness, hard work and obedience and in all those things she excelled. As a result, the passage of ages has not been kind to her, the rise of the modern era stripping her of many of the familiar cornerstones of her existance. Because of that, she clings to the things she knew: honor, tradition, rigid discipline and the desperate hope that this change in the world will ressurect some facsimile of the world she knew and understood. It makes her seem distant and cold to many more modern minded people, though she is in fact very tender-hearted and kind and is especially fond of children. Yet, she can be cold and ruthless as well, and this does not conflict with what she understands of the qualities of women. In the gynaceum where she was born, intrigue was the stuff of life and only clever, canny, ruthless women survived and gained power - what little there was to be had in a male dominated world.  Background: Hatsuyuki was the only daughter of a lesser general in The emperor's army. He had fifteen sons, but of all his wives, only his youngest concubine gave him a daughter. The general taught his daughter how to read and write, and from her mother she learned the graces of being a woman of her era: how to be beautiful, how to please her husband, how to raise children and write poetry. Eventually, the time came when the general wanted more power, and so he sent his daughter to the imperial court as a concubine for the emperor himself in a bid for power. One would think that such a life would be a paradise, but it was not. She was not the daughter of a prince or king, just a general, and as such her status in the gynaceum was low, and would only rise if by some miracle The emperor called for her, and she either charmed him or became with child. The odds were low, and even if he did call for her, it would likely be a once in a lifetime chance. The gynaceum contained nearly 3000 concubines not including their slaves and their eunuchs. One of the ways that a woman could raise her chances to see the emperor was to bribe the court painter. The emperor chose his partner for the evening by viewing the portraits of the women in his harem and selecting the most lovely as his bedmates. Hatsuyuki was undeniably the most beautiful woman in the emperor's harem, barring one, the empress herself. Hatsuyuki, always honest and confident in her own beauty, refused to bribe the court painter, trusting that he would paint her as she was. What she did not know was that a bribe had been paid by the empress. This bribe, however, guaranteed that the emperor would never call for her because, instead of falsifying beauty, she was painted as plain, the plainest woman in the gynaceum in fact. So, years passed, and she went from a girl of twelve to a woman of twenty. Finally, one day the time came that the emperor had to repay a debt. He had once promised a vampire a large sum of gold and an imperial bride for assassinating one of his enemies. The day came to repay that debt, and being a miserly, calculating man, the emperor chose the plainest woman in his harem, or so he believed, to be the vampire's bride. The day came that the wedding was performed before the imperial court, and when the red silk was lifted away, it was Hatsuyuki beneath the veil, the most beautiful woman in the harem, now in the fullness of her years, surpassing even the empress. The emperor wept and rent his robes in rage and ordered the court painter executed as well as his empress for her part in the farce, yet there was nothing he could do as Hatsuyuki was taken from his grasp, and into the wild north, never to be seen again. For Hatsuyuki, that single mistake cost her, and gave her everything. The vampire, bewitched by her beauty turned her on their wedding night, yet he did not take her virginity. Her tears and begging somehow kept his advances at bay. She ran his house, tended his other concubines. She was first wife at last if only in name, but her time in the gynaceum had taught her something. Her chastity had saved her from a life of misery and isolation in the imperial harem, so she resolved to keep it. Eventually, her husband died, slain by one of his jealous concubines. Even a mortal can kill a vampire if they are clever, quiet and motivated, and the vampire is careless. She left China after that, sailing across the sea to Japan to get away from any that would know or remember her. She took a new name and built a new life, new wealth, first as a prostitute, then a courtesan, then a lady of wealth and means as a daimyo's wife. She used her abillity to cloud the mind and plant memory and create illusions to convince her husbands and lovers that they had tasted of her flesh, when in fact, they only slept chastely beside her. Years passed, then centuries, eras rising and falling, yet Hatsuyuki remained. The lives of women in the east varied little over the centuries. When the industrial age arrived, then life began to shift. She did not cope well with the changes. She was too set in her ways, too unsure of the outside world to be a modern woman, so she retreated into the traditional, to the world of the geisha, who kept the old ways alive. Changing from wife to entertainter once again, it was in this capacity that, in 1950, she went to Las Vegas to sell her skills shortly after World War II. There she stayed, with her select clientel and her carefully tended world, until the meteors hit and everything changed again. She remained secluded, with a very select client base, though now she catered to the lycans and vampires instead of to mortals. The Sanguine were just, even-handed rulers, and they did not trouble her. Life was... if not good, then tolerable. Vegas never really changed, and that suited her just fine.
